We deliver First Aid and First Aid re-certification courses, which can also be customised and delivered at your premises on a regular basis.
The regulations do not lay down precise numbers of first aiders. However, the ACOP gives guidance on how many first aiders should be considered, depending on the nature of the business and it’s “hazard rating”.

Employers must carry out a risk assessment to determine the hazards present and to provide adequate and suitable first aid equipment and facilities and personnel. Employers need to consider the following:-
- Workplace hazards and risks
- The size of the organisation
- The organisation’s history of accidents
- The nature and distribution of the workforce
- The remoteness of the site
- The needs of travelling, remote and lone workers
- Employees on shard or multi-occupied sites.
- Annual leave and other absences of first aiders and appointed persons
First Aid Annual Refresher
Every year thousands of people suffer heart attacks. In some cases this may be followed by cardiac arrest, where the heart stops beating effectively because it has gone into a chaotic electrical rhythm known as ventricular fibrillation (VF). The only way to reverse VF and restore heart function is to deliver a controlled electric shock to the heart by means of a defibrillator. If someone has suffered a cardiac arrest then immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation gives the casualty the best chance of survival.
The aim of this course is to teach first aiders the safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). As use of an AED must be combined with basic life support, students must be competent in CPR.
Oxygen Therapy
This module covers the use of oxygen, for oxygen therapy and for resuscitation. The use of adjuncts for resuscitation and the general care and maintenance of suction units, bag and masks and airways etc. This module also covers the monitoring of casualties.
Target Group
This course is suitable for all candidates who are occupationally competent in first aid and who undertake first aid duties at public events on a regular basis. Students must have a good knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The lower age limit for this course is 18. The programme has a high practical content.
